HRCNZ updates:

posted Sep 7, 2010, 6:49 PM by Nigel Tomkins   [ updated Nov 4, 2010, 12:41 PM ]

Unfortunately it is with very sad news that I can confirm that the HRCNZ rider training day on the 24th of November has been cancelled due to lack of interest.

I received a phone call yesterday from Rob from the riders club, he said we had only three people sign up for the training which is really  disappointing. Being that track hire is now incredibly expensive it looked like they would make a massive loss if they came down and in the current economic climate this is not ideal! It is a shame as last year we had a good turn out and everybody raved about how helpful the day was. (once it stopped raining!).

I can confirm that we will still be running our Friday night ride on the 26th November, leaving from the shop at 4.30, and there will be drinks and nibbles afterwards. Again, we really need to know number that are attending, even if your only thinking about attending, so we can organise food and beverages.

Anyways, that is about our lot at the moment, we are really looking forward to the Munro (as are most motorcyclists in NZ at the moment!) and hope to see you all there!

We know that many of you and your friends are planning on a trip down south, so here is a reminder on what HRCNZ can offer you down in Invercargill over the Burt Munro Challenge.

HRCNZ Aaron Slight Rider Development Day, Teretonga, Wednesday, 24 November

We are pleased to have Aaron and other experienced riders to help you with all aspects of your bike and riding. This will be a two part day:

From 9am to 4pm, the day is for more experienced riders, including track and race bikes. From 4.30pm to 7pm, we will then run a twilight session for newer and less experienced riders, focusing on riding skills.

The groups available from 9am-4pm are;

A. Fast group. Race, track and motard bikes permitted. Fast road bikes also allowed, BUT, if insured through the Golightly/HRCNZ scheme, you will not be covered in this group.

B. Faster road riders, road bikes only

C. Intermediate riders, road bikes only

From 4.30pm to 7pm, we will run as one group and work on specific skills such as braking and throttle control. This is a road bike only group and designed for newer riders. If insured with Golightly/HRCNZ, you will have insurance cover.

Price for this day is as follows;

For the 9am-4pm part of the day, it is pre registered $100 for HRCNZ members, $125 for non members. There will be a $25 surcharge on the day if spaces are available

From 4.30pm-7pm, pre registered prices are $50 for HRCNZ members, $65 for non members. $25 surcharge on the day.

Sign On

From 8am and 4.15pm

Riding Gear

Your normal ride gear is fine; helmet, boots, gloves , jacket and trousers. Leather or cordura is fine. Do not think that jeans and shoes are acceptable. We strongly recommend the use of a back protector.

Southland Honda Road Ride, Friday 26 November

Only the locals know the best local roads, so here is your chance to come along with the guys from Southland Honda on a two hour ride. There will be a range of demo bikes available to ride. Be at the dealership at 77 Clyde Street, Invercargill with a full tank of fuel by 4.30pm

Southland Honda Natter and Nibbles, Friday 26 November

The road ride will finish back at Southland Honda in time for this social evening. Your chance to enjoy some Southern hospitality, meet some of the racers, and generally kick tyres with other riders. If you want to come along to this, please RSVP Jeremy on 03 214 4254 as he will need to make sure of enough nibbles for all. If this evening is like previous Southland Honda events, the word "nibble" is a gross understatement, the platters are huge!

So we hope to see you in Invercargill this November. The ride and Rider Development Day with Aaron slight are open to all makes and models, and all levels of riding experience. Get a group of mates together and we will see you there.

Safe travels
